What you will be doing

Raising awareness of FHL and its charitable works, by giving talks and appeals at church services/meetings, other charitable organisations and Christian schools, that are aligned with FHL’s ethos.

Help organise the opportunities to speak by talking to the priest/vicar, Group Leader, or key contact. Support will be provided if needed.

You may be working on your own or as part of a team of Advocates, with support from staff at FHL. Materials (script) will be provided for the appeals/talks.

After the appeals/talks, it would be helpful to share any observations, actions, or outcomes with the Volunteer Liaison Coordinator. Where possible, you will make follow up calls and agree any actions for FHL.

How Long Do I Have To Volunteer For?

You need to commit to a regular volunteering opportunity of around an hour a week. The table below shows the commitment required for each level of the DofE.

Bronze

Minimum time: 3 or 6 months

You must do one of your volunteering, Physical or Skills sections for 6 months, the others for 3.

Silver

Minimum time: 6 or 12 months

If you heven't achieved your Bronze Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 12 months.

Gold

Minimum time: 12 or 18 months

If you heven't achieved your Silver Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 18 months.
