We're the Uk's leading bowel cancer charity. We're determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. We support and fund targeted research , provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.

As an Awareness Talk Volunteer ,you'll deliver awareness talks about bowel cancer symptoms, screening and our services to local organisations and community groups. We provide a standardised powerpoint presentation that can be presented either virtually (optional) orin personin your local community. This means you can deliver an online presentation from anywhere in the UK.

Main duties and responsibilities:-
* Confident in delivering bowel cancer awareness material to a range of audiences either online or in person.
* Act as an ambassador for what we do, displaying enthusiasm and commitment.
* Aim to deliver 12 talks per year. This is an aspirational and flexible target
* Ensure information in the local community is relevant and up-to-date
* Add your personal experience of bowel cancer to the presentation (where appropriate)
* Establish connections with local organisations and community groups.

Basic IT skills - internet & email, Language Skills, Organising & Planning, Listening skills, Social Skills

* Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills * An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and data protection * Confident public speaker * Able to communicate with people from various backgrounds and with different levels of understanding * Good basic IT experience or experience of using Zoom * Reliable and trustworthy

* An opportunity to raise awareness of bowel cancer symptoms and screening * Experience of public speaking and promoting public health initiatives * Opportunity to interact with our other volunteers and staff * Increased confidence * References for future employers
