Natural Capital Assessment Partnership - Admin Volunteer-Warwick

Purpose of your role:

Local Wildlife Sites (LWS) are non-statutory designations that recognise the value of some of
the UK’s most important sites for wildlife. Local Authorities recognise these sites in their planning processes,
granting some protection to these sites from development. The Natural Capital Assessment Partnership (NCAP)
team are responsible for managing Local Wildlife Site data for Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull, surveying sites
to determine whether they meet Local Wildlife Site standards and passing on management suggestions to land
managers.
While NCAP are based at Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, the team are hosted by Warwickshire County Council. By
joining our team as a volunteer, you will be contributing to this process and helping to conserve some of the
region’s most valuable habitats.

Tasks you will be involved with:

• Preparing and sending out landowner packs for newly designated LWS which include management advice
and suggestions for the sites.
• Preparing and sending out letters to arrange access to LWS and other communications.
• Helping to digitise LWS maps.
• Updating the LWS database/contributing to a LWS report inventory.
• Various other admin support tasks.

Skills and abilities required:

• Willingness to commit to a consistent volunteering pattern, e.g: one day a week, 9.30am - 3.30pm.
• Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
• Good communication and team working skills with a willingness to learn.
• Ability to work independently, when required.

You will be based at: Warwickshire County Council Offices, Shire Hall, Warwick, CV34 4RL. You will officially be a County Council volunteer hosted on Warwickshire County Council systems, but volunteering for the NCAP team who are employed by Warwickshire Wildlife Trust.

Days and time we would like you to be available:

We are looking for someone who can dedicate a regular
commitment, e.g. one day a week/one day every two weeks. At the moment, the County Council has plenty of
desk availability on Fridays but there is flexibility to discuss which work day would suit.
