Walk-in-Wardrobe Assistant

Barnardos Rugby Children & Family Centres

You did not enter a postcode in the search, or the postcode for this role is unknown.

The Walk-in-Wardrobe is a free clothing service for families and expecting parents within the local community, supported by Barnardo’s volunteers. We receive clothing donations, clean and sort all these donations and then make them available within our wardrobes. We rotate our wardrobe clothing seasonally (summer, winter etc) and provide clothing for popular celebrated holidays and school uniforms. This service is completely free, and families are encouraged to fill a bag with clothing and then return every 4 – 6 weeks to fill another bag.

The wardrobe has been a huge success to the Barnardo’s Rugby Borough Children & Family Centres, and we are now hoping to expand the service to include a Wednesday session 11:30am – 1:30pm from 2025.

We’re searching for two volunteers who may have experience working within retail, front of house as a receptionist or greeter and/or with families and children. Due to the role working closely alongside vulnerable adults, children and families, WiW Support Worker’s must complete an enhanced DBS check (this is paid for by us within your online application).

Key duties include:
• Sorting clothing donations by age, cleanliness and seasonally
• Welcoming users into the wardrobe
• Assisting users with finding clothing for their children
• Ensuring users sign-in on the walk-in-wardrobe register
• Organising clothing rails based on holidays and seasons (Easter, uniforms, Halloween, Christmas etc)
• Rotating our seasonal clothing from/into over-spill boxes and the wardrobes
• Collating and evaluating feedback from users
• Always adhering to Barnardo’s policies and procedures, including Barnardo's: Safeguarding; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; Health & Safety; Data Protection; Confidentiality; Recording policies and procedures
• Participating fully in training and supervisions
