The café is a popular part of our visitor experience, and can become extremely busy, especially during the school holidays. We also have local people who pop in for a coffee or just taking time out of their day to have a bite to eat.

We value the support from volunteers to ensure that we continue to provide high quality food and excellent customer service to our visitors.

Tasks you will be involved with:
Working within a busy café environment, assisting with food prep, serving customers and taking food orders, using the till and handling payments, clearing down tables and loading of dishwasher, using and operating catering equipment.
Customer interactions, talking to people about their visit, what they may have seen during their visit and about the work of the Trust.
You should bring suitable footwear (enclosed toe), protective clothing, eg: an apron will be provided.

Catering

Social Skills, Catering

Good customer service skills. Ability to accept others who might be different to yourself. Be reliable and patient. Good communications and listening skills. A friendly approach with an interest in wildlife and nature. A willingness and ability to volunteer within guidelines and take direction where necessary. An understanding of the importance of health and safety, including food safety and hygiene. A willingness to undertake a Food Safety and Hygiene certificate and other training, as and when required.

A chance to raise support for a fantastic local charity. Knowledge that the work you do will benefit a flagship site and the work of Warwickshire Wildlife Trust. Reconnect with nature, whilst learning more about your local reserves and wildlife. Develop your communication and engagement skills. Be a valued member of a friendly, professional team of staff and volunteers. Gain experience in a commercial kitchen environment.

Our cafes are open from 9.30am—4.00pm every day of the week, A regular commitment would be most beneficial with a usual shift time being of 11am—3pm. Additional hours to these times, we would be grateful of your help and support when holding major events.
