LOHP Conservation Volunteer
LOHP offer a range of volunteering opportunities including: practical restoration management, implementing monitoring, such as dipwell and water quality monitoring. There are plenty of wildlife surveys to get involved with including butterflies and dragonflies, aquatic invertebrates, bats, water voles, aquatic and terrestrial plants, otters, small mammals, grasshoppers and many, many more.
Opportunities are plentiful to learn about monitoring equipment, including fixed-point photography, trail cameras, bat detectors, moth traps and associated data input and collation.
You can assist, support or lead education and community engagement activities, such as guided walks, school visits and special events.
We also need people interested in livestock, who would be happy to check the welfare of our cattle and sheep.
As a volunteer you will trained in a variety of skills, with opportunities to attend training courses for free, including species identification.
There are weekly work parties every Wednesday; Sunday work parties once a month; and our Conservation Manager can support and assist volunteers Mondays – Thursdays.
Start date: Join a work party or a survey team to try volunteering at the LOHP. We welcome new volunteers all year.
