You’ll be supporting the crucial work of a local food hub in providing affordable, nutritious and enjoyable food. You’ll be part of creating a welcoming space for local community members. Your work will also help save tasty food from being wasted and going to landfill.
There are a range of different food hubs, food co-ops and community pantries in the IFP network needing volunteer support, so you can choose one that works for you. The role will depend on the food hub that you choose, but will include things like:
- unloading and arranging the food at a food co-op
- packing bags of food, tailoring them to the dietary needs and preferences of service-users
- speaking with service-users to assist them, give information or get their feedback
- serving food at a regular community meal
- serving cups of tea and coffee and welcoming clients to the space
You will work within a team and have support from a volunteer coordinator.

Working hours depend which local food hub you choose to volunteer with. There is a higher need for volunteers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Requirements & Duties:
To support a local food hub with practical tasks or assisting service-users.
To troubleshoot and resolve issues or problems as and when they arise, finding creative solutions when necessary
To report to MGWT Volunteer Coordinator and the IFP Coordinators.
