Marie Curie Companion is an amazing service provided by trained volunteers who offer one-to-one companionship and support to people with a terminal illness and their families. The service would not be able to reach those most in need if it was not for the commitment and hard work of the volunteers delivering the service in their local communities.

Companion volunteers provide friendship and emotional support, practical support, short breaks for carers and help with signposting for information and support.

This role is so helpful in supporting/befriending people who may have become disconnected or isolated due to having a terminal illness. We are looking for caring empathetic people who want to improve someone's end of life experience.

To volunteer in this role you will need to be a empathetic and caring person who wants to improve the life of someone who is isolated or alone. You will need to be a good listener and an overall an excellent communicator.

All volunteer travel expenses are covered for this role. We also provide full training and ongoing support for our volunteers so they are totally equipped and comfortable for the role. Our volunteers also receive a volunteer newsletter; invites to Marie Curie events; and access to online presentations each week. This is also a great step back into work or to add onto your CV. Most importantly, it is an amazing way to give back to your local community!

Between 1 to 3 hours a week, with a commitment of up to 12 months. However, this is a flexible role and times can be altered depending on availability and client's needs.
