Mentor Role & Goal:

You'll be helping young, unemployed Islington residents, some of whom have additional challenges such as disability and socio-economic hurdles, find secure, sustainable employment; building prospects, potential and learning opportunities.

Supporting mentees during the 21st Century Workplace & Skills programme for between 2 hours a month.

Empowering mentees to set and achieve both short and long-term employment and learning goals.
Listening to mentee’s employment and education concerns and supporting them to consider their options and utilise new opportunities.

Using professional knowledge to advise and offer support with job searches, applications, CVs and interview practice.

Working with and referring to LPPI’s Employment & Education Coordinator to ensure that mentees are fully supported in line with LPPI’s Safeguarding Policy.

Qualifications:
Private/ Public Sector Professional and/or Entrepreneur
Willingness to provide emotional, social, and practical support within limits.
Knowledge of one’s boundaries and ability to set limits with others.
Recognition that all people have strengths and they need to discover and use them.
Completed background check and training.

Supervision/Training:
Monthly supervision/training groups provided by the Educational Coordinator.
Individual meetings with Educational Coordinator when necessary.

Time Commitment:
Weekly/ biweekly/ monthly mentor meetings between November 2021 to September 2022
2 hours mentoring a month.
In-person/Phone/Video call contact within reason.

LPPI Community Hub at The Exchange (N7 8DE)
Remotely via Phone/Video as agreed with Education Coordinator
