Collecting requests from patients on the wards as well as processing those through email.
Planning and presenting a live show. 1-2 hours.
Being the friendly voice by the bedside and for the local community.

Do you have a few hours spare every week? Do you want to meet new people, make a difference in someone’s life and give something back to your local community?

If the answer is yes, then we want to hear from you! We’re looking for volunteers of all ages (minimum age 18 years) who are willing to give their time and talents to further the objectives of Radio St Helier.

Our job is to be a friend at the bedside for the patients of St Helier Hospital!

Let’s be honest, being unwell and in hospital is never fun. Our volunteers make a real difference to an older or vulnerable patient, who may have only spoken to a doctor or nurse to tell them how they are feeling or what they want for dinner that day. In return, volunteers get the satisfaction of knowing that they have made a real difference to that person’s stay in hospital.

Although experience is useful, it is by no means a requirement. You will be given full training around the hospital and in the studio.

Once we receive your application, we will be in contact with you within a couple of weeks to invite you for an informal interview.

Don’t worry, this is just so that we can get to know you, and for you to see what we do and get to know us a bit better. If you’re successful you’ll need a DBS certificate, which we’ll set up. Once we have that, you will be put with an experienced presenter, as a studio assistant, who will show you the ropes.
