As a Parent/Carer Advice and Support Volunteer, you will support parents/Carers by providing them with accurate, up to date advice and information about a range of topics, including local and national services and support they may be entitled to.

As a Parent/Carer Advice and Support Volunteer, you will support parents/Carers by providing them with accurate, up to date advice and information about a range of topics, including local and national services and support they may be entitled to. Working closely with a staff member who runs our Parent/Carer Support Group, you may make welfare calls to parents/Carers to see how they are, provide information by phone or email, or help to develop/maintain our information for parents/Carers in Sutton.

A good listener. A clear communicator with a friendly telephone manner. Someone who likes to work on their own initiative but also enjoys being part of a team. Experience of using MS Office, particularly Word and Outlook email. All our volunteers and staff work within the Centre’s Confidentiality, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunity and Diversity Policies. Willingness to undertake mandatory training courses. Previous knowledge and experience of parent/Carer issues would be particularly useful but not essential as full training will be given. Knowledge of local services in Sutton would be useful but not essential as full training will be given.

Supervision and support from staff within Sutton Carers Centre. Induction and training. Reimbursement of travel expenses. References can be provided after 6 months of volunteering. A friendly and supportive atmosphere where you can learn new skills and challenge yourself. The chance to use your knowledge and skills to support local parents/Carers of children with autism, ADHD, severe anxiety and other extra needs and disabilities.
