Support for weekly dementia club - Time Out Club run every Wednesday morning in Elford Village Hall.
Tasks undertaken include:
Greeting and making attendees welcome
Interacting with people, being friendly and approachable, providing company and helping those with dementia feel settled, safe and secure
Helping to establish, maintain and develop relationships with those with dementia and their caregivers
Providing one to one support (optional and subject to DBS check)
Being involved with the planning, organising and staging of a range of activities including table top games, arts and crafts, exercise and games
Providing help with domestic tasks such as serving refreshments and washing-up
Helping to set up the Village Hall as well as clearing up at the end of the day care session.

Cleaning & Tidying

A friendly manner and being approachable are the minimum skills a volunteer requires. You will be supported by a buddy to take on the roles you are interested in.

The opportunity to volunteer in a friendly people facing environment, where you will have a lot of fun, unlimited supplies of tea/coffee and biscuits. You will receive a volunteer handbook, a buddy to guide you through the first weeks and ongoing training and support. One of our volunteers has gone onto permanent employment in the NHS.

2 x 4 hour sessions (9am - 1pm) a month

Currently not served by public transport. Driving from Tamworth take the A513 (Comberford Road) out of town past Rawlett School. Follow the road to Elford Village, take first left into village, follow the road and turn left onto Church Road. Village Hall is immediately on your right. Free Parking is available at the hall.

The members that we care for have disability requirements. We can offer wheelchair access to the building and toilets and allocated parking. We can wear a microphone for hearing aids and enlarge documentation for visual impairment.

Masks and hand gel are available on entrance. Members are likely to stay at home if they have any respitory illnesses. Anyone who tests positive for Covid or has been in close proximity of an individual who has tested positive is asked to not attend until they are well. This includes members, carers, volunteers, trustees and visitors.
