Cathedral Christmas Light Show - Event Volunteer

The Cathedral Christmas Light Show s a stunning light and sound experience with projections onto the Lichfield Cathedral School Palace building and onto the west front of the Cathedral, with visitors then going into the Cathedral to visit the Crib and walk through the Christmas Tree Festival.
We are looking for volunteers to help welcome visitors to this special event and ensure that they have the best experience possible. The show will be held between Monday 16 and Sunday 22 December and volunteers will be needed between 5.00pm and 10.00pm (shifts are between 2 and 2.5hrs) – you can volunteer for as many or as few evenings as you like.

Key duties will be:

• To provide a warm and friendly welcome to the Cathedral and give clear directions to assist visitors
• To direct people either inside or outside the Cathedral
• To manage queues and control the flow of visitors through the event
• To work as part of a team and use radios to communicate with team members
• To respond to instructions and to assist in the case of an evacuation
• To ensure visitors have the best experience possible

a) Welcoming and able to communicate to all people b) Able to work as part of a team c) Proactive and able to use initiative d) Willingness to undertake training and accept supervision as appropriate e) Committed to working to the Cathedral’s safeguarding policies and practices and to completing the appropriate training f) Able to recognise the boundaries of the role and seek advice where appropriate g) Able to be flexible as tasks may change in line with government guidelines h) Sympathetic to the ethos, vision and ministry of the Cathedral

Meeting lots of new people and being part of a friendly team. Free on-site parking if volunteering for the whole night (4.55pm-9.00pm) 2 Complimentary tickets to the Christmas Light Show
