Newcastle Community Transport cio are a small charity who make a bid difference to less able people. Established in 1974, we have been providing wheelchair accessible transport for over 50 years.
We provides a door to door transport service for people in the Newcastle under Lyme and surrounding areas who are less mobile , do not have their own cars and are unable to use public transport. Because of hidden or visible disability. We have two 12-seater, wheelchair-accessible minibuses and a small WAV car . This has room for 1 wheelchair and seats for two carers.
We provide trips to places such as: Clubs, Supermarkets, Meals Out, theaters, medical appointments & Visitor Centers. We provide full training to our volunteer drivers in the use of our vehicles and the care and safety of our passengers.

Driving (must have full driving license)

UK Driving Licence

Listening, Teamwork, Leadership, Talking to others. Patience and a caring attitude for less able passengers.

A great sense of pride that you are assisting people to maintain links with their support groups, medical teams, family, friends. Helping people not to become socially isolated and maintain independence. Making a real difference to someone by making it possible for them to get out of their homes.

To suit you. Discuss with us when you are available. A few hours, a day, half a day, weekends. You tell us your availability and let us know what available trips you will do.

The driving role is not suitable for anyone who is not fit and able to drive a non adapted vehicle. Manual handling applies to supporting wheelchair users up and down curbs if necessary and the use of the tail lift for wheelchair access to passengers.
