The Purple Elephant Project is a local children’s charity offering therapeutic support to children and families across Richmond and surrounding areas. We create a calm, caring environment where children receive specialist therapy in our dedicated hub – helping them process difficult emotions and experiences in a safe, supported space.

While children are in sessions, parents and caregivers are welcomed into a quiet listening space, where they can relax, enjoy a cup of tea, and talk to someone who understands – without judgement. The hub is at the heart of what we do, and keeping it warm, clean, and welcoming helps every family feel safe and valued.

About the Role
We are looking for a kind, reliable Volunteer Cleaner to help us keep the hub clean and tidy. Your help will ensure the space remains a peaceful, inviting environment for children, parents, therapists, and volunteers.

Duties include:

Light cleaning in our small kitchen area and toilet

Packing and unpacking the dishwasher

Hoovering therapy and communal rooms

Emptying bins and our paper shredder

Dusting and wiping down tables and surfaces

Keeping the children's therapy room neat and tidy

Watering indoor plants and our outdoor planters

You don’t need any experience – just:

A good eye for detail

A gentle, respectful attitude towards the space

Reliability and care in your work

A willingness to be part of something meaningful

This is a small but incredibly valued role that helps us maintain the calm and supportive environment our families deserve.

Time commitment: 1–2 hours per week (flexible timing), with a minimum commitment of 3 months.
