What you will be doing

Volunteers are needed to help provide a friendly atmosphere for older people to meet together and enjoy refreshments and each others company. Duties will include assisting with domestic tasks, e.g. serving and / or preparing refreshments and dish washing. Volunteers will also be expected to provide a friendly face and helping hand to users, and assistance to other volunteer assistants in preparing the club for the day and leaving it clean and orderly at the end of the day.

Skills Description

Suitable volunteers will need to have a genuine liking for and empathy with older people. They will need to be able to work as part of a team and they must be reliable and trustworthy.

How Long Do I Have To Volunteer For?

You need to commit to a regular volunteering opportunity of around an hour a week. The table below shows the commitment required for each level of the DofE.

Bronze

Minimum time: 3 or 6 months

You must do one of your volunteering, Physical or Skills sections for 6 months, the others for 3.

Silver

Minimum time: 6 or 12 months

If you heven't achieved your Bronze Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 12 months.

Gold

Minimum time: 12 or 18 months

If you heven't achieved your Silver Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 18 months.
