The Beacon Volunteer & Befriending service is a new service where we recruit & train volunteer Befrienders & Peer Mentors to offer Befriending/Peer Mentoring support to the service users of the Beacon service. We are looking for individuals with some lived experience perhaps, (but would consider people without), of some of the issues faced by our SU's. Our SU's are all vulnerable adults who have complex needs, which can include issues such as substance misuse, risk of homelessness, prolific offending and mental health problems.

We are looking for individuals with good communication skills who can support a wide variety of people with a diverse range of needs. You need to be empathetic, understanding and non-judgemental. Direct or non-direct experience of the issues facing our service users is desirable however we provide full training to all volunteers.
Full training is provided to all volunteers. The role represents a good way to gain practical experience of supporting service users and acquire knowledge.
