Film & TV volunteering with free training over Easter

WORLDwrite

You did not enter a postcode in the search, or the postcode for this role is unknown.

Led by volunteers, the charity WORLDwrite is now preparing a major documentary project on the history of freedom in the UK for the year ahead. If developing filmmaking skills or testing your existing skills while making an impact is of interest, then this is definitely for you.
Step into the world of filmmaking and make your voice heard! This high-energy, hands-on film training package for volunteers is your chance to learn the ropes, get behind the camera, and create an impactful film for public benefit—all while exploring the powerful history of freedom. Whether you’re a budding filmmaker, a passionate storyteller, a historian, freedom lover or simply curious, this immersive experience will take you from concept to creation in just a few days.
This is a 'hybrid' role involving online crew meetings as well as face to face camera training and a shoot at the Worldwrite centre in Hackney E5. All ages are welcome aged 16+ no one is turned away and no previous skills are required.

Marketing, PR & Media

Creative & Design, Research

No previous skills are required but an interest in trying your hand at film making and doing a little research will help. You will need to be able to get online to attend crew meetings via zoom.

You will learn basic camera skills with 4k & HD professional cameras. Refreshments including lunches will be provided when at our centre. You can meet new people, feature in the end credits of the film we are making, gain an understanding of lighting, sound and what a major production involves. The charity will provide you with a reference if required.

You need to be able to attend the 5 evening sessions of up to 2hrs each online and one full face to weekend on both days.

Further location details may be provided below.

201 Millfields Road

E5 0AL

The WORLDwrite Centre, 201 Millfields Road is in Clapton in Hackney, London E5 0AL. It can be a bit difficult to find us as the street numbers make no sense and are probably best ignored! We are RIGHT AT THE BOTTOM OF MILLFIELDS ROAD OPPOSITE OSWALD STREET The 242 Bus stops right outside our black gate on Millfields Road. We are in a red brick detached building with a power station on one side and former environmental services on the other. There are also a lot of buses which stop at the top of Millfields Road at Clapton pond. From Clapton pond you need to walk all the way to the other end of Millfields road to get to us (about 15mins). The Silverlink train which runs west east also stops not far away at Homerton station or Hackney Central from where you can jump on a 242 bus which will take about 10 mins and drop you outside our centre. These details are not comprehensive so do check online with TFL or Google maps to find the quickest way to get to us from where you are. If you are driving you need to enter the lower half of Millfields Road from Chatsworth Road as the top side is blocked off. There is roadside parking in all streets around us which is free at weekends and we’ll provide you with a voucher on week days.
