Founded in 1985, we are a community-driven organisation, dedicated to keeping older people in and around Hackney active, independent and loving life!

At HCEO, we serve a 2 course freshly cooked luncheon each day we are open and the Kitchen Support Volunteer will assist the Chef and Nutritionist in the kitchen with their tasks.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Washing pots, pans, tea items, cutlery etc
• Loading dishwasher trays with plates, cutlery etc and operating the dishwasher
• Cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces in the kitchen
• Putting clean dishes/pots/cutlery away
• Contributing to an effective working environment in the kitchen
• Engaging with clients and contributing to a welcoming environment

Essential Skills Experience of working with groups of vulnerable people An understanding of needs and issues facing older people Patient, thoughtful and empathetic approach An understanding of appropriate personal and professional conduct Desirable Skills Experience of working with groups of older people Experience of working with people with a level of physical or mental disability Experience of working with older people on an individual basis An understanding of health & safety in the workplace

As a volunteer, we cover travel costs to and from the Centre and you receive the freshly cooked luncheon. We organise and pay for an enhanced volunteer DBS certificate and can source training to assist and support you in your volunteer role. We also provide references for future voluntary or work related roles.

The role is needed from approx 1300 to 1430 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
