Covid Vaccine Steward

Volunteer Centre Hackney

You did not enter a postcode in the search, or the postcode for this role is unknown.

Starting in December 2020 but continuing into 2021 so never too late to join!

As part of the NHS’s program to vaccinate Key workers and the most vulnerable people in the borough in the fight against Covid-19, City and Hackney are operating two sites in Hackney vaccinating local residents against this virus. The first is Bocking Street off Mare Street and the second is John Scott Health Centre off Green Lanes

As a volunteer, you'll help each individual enter and exit the site safely taking into account the latest COVID secure guidelines, help them to register on arrival, as well as look after their wellbeing during whole appointment. This may include answering questions on what will happen, guiding them to appropriate areas or just giving a friendly smile and allowing them to share a story.

As we will be working with some of the most vulnerable in Hackney having a caring nature will be important in undertaking this role.

Working as a team of volunteers you will be following the Health Services own COVID policies to ensure that you too stay safe, with all necessary PPE being supplied.

As the surgery will be operating 12 hours a day, we have a range of volunteering slots available through the day and evening (with the possibility to sign up across multiple weeks at once), and coming soon, an option for weekends too - so please sign up stating your availability in your message to us so we can easily keep you up to date.

Current shifts are from Tuesday to Fridays at the following times:
8am – 11am / 11am – 2pm / 2pm – 5pm / 5pm – 8pm

Training will be given before your 1st shift and we have 2 specific days for 2021 planned on 4th and 11th of January.

- Being confident and caring while ensuring a professional image that allows everyone who should receive the vaccine be able to receive it. - This role will require most of the 3-hour shift to be standing and outdoor based so you will need to be comfortable with this level of physical activity and wear the suitable clothes for the days weather. - If you have previous stewarding experience it would be useful but not necessary, as full training will be given - We would love to hear from people who can speak any of Hackneys community languages.

Helping to lead the country out from the COVID-19 pandemic. This role is a great way to interact with your community and immediate volunteer team in an outdoor setting, whilst learning how to manage a continuous flow of people and ensuring your shift remains free of bottle necks which allow the vaccinators to complete their important task successfully.
