What you will be doing

The Museum is looking for Visitor Centre volunteers for a variety of roles to help run the Museum. The roles include welcoming visitors, helping on the Reception desk, being a Museum guide/steward and working behind the scenes to support the running of the Museum.

This is a visitor facing role that would suit someone who enjoys engaging with the public and creating a friendly and welcoming environment.

Volunteers are needed for Tuesdays, or Sundays or both days. The Museum is usually open 10am-4pm. Volunteers may prefer to attend for all or part of an opening day (minimum commitment 2 hours). The Museum is normally open every Tuesday throughout the year, with family Open Days on some Sundays frpm March to October.

How Long Do I Have To Volunteer For?

You need to commit to a regular volunteering opportunity of around an hour a week. The table below shows the commitment required for each level of the DofE.

Bronze

Minimum time: 3 or 6 months

You must do one of your volunteering, Physical or Skills sections for 6 months, the others for 3.

Silver

Minimum time: 6 or 12 months

If you heven't achieved your Bronze Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 12 months.

Gold

Minimum time: 12 or 18 months

If you heven't achieved your Silver Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 18 months.
