Onside Advocacy

You did not enter a postcode in the search, or the postcode for this role is unknown.

In this role you will be ensuring that people are not too restricted in their day to day lives and that there have been no changes for that person. We often think that everyone has someone looking out for them but that isn’t always the case.
The people you may visit will be receiving care, are vulnerable and often have communication difficulties, for many reasons such as dementia, learning disabilities or difficulties following a stroke or other physical conditions. You will try to understand the person you are supporting and encourage everyone involved in their care and support to see the 'whole person'

Admin, Basic IT skills - internet & email, Evaluating & Reviewing, Organising & Planning

In this role being friendly and approachable is a must. You also need to be confident to ask care home staff questions about the person you are supporting and feel able to query and raise any concerns you may have with the home. You will have, or be willing to learn, basic computer literacy skills in order to log your contact / work on our database system.

A very rewarding role that will make a real difference to the individuals you support. You will be part of a team and receive regular and ongoing support. There are opportunities to get together with the team within Herefordshire and the wider organisation, which is based in Worcester city.

You can arrange the visits at your convenience. They need to take place every 6-8 weeks.

Further location details may be provided below.

The care homes are spread over the county of Herefordshire. The volunteer can stipulate how far they want to travel and will be matched accordingly.
