As a trustee the role is to contribute and support the effective running and governance of our charity.

We are looking for a skilled volunteer who can work with fellow trustees and the Home-Start Herefordshire Scheme Manager to provide strategic and operational guidance.

The board are responsible for the vision and strategy of the scheme as well as overseeing finances, staff and property and whilst this is a serious commitment with legal and financial responsibilities, they have no personal financial liability as the Herefordshire scheme is a company limited by guarantee.

You don’t need special qualifications to be a trustee. Common sense, flexibility, the ability to work as part of a team, a genuine interest in supporting families in your community and a willingness to learn/understand the pressures facing parents today are just as important to us.

Skills, knowledge, and experience • Good generalist experience • Ability to effectively and clearly communicate • Sound judgement and problem-solving skills • Confidence to put forward ideas and suggestions and effectively and appropriately challenge • Common sense, flexibility, the ability to work as part of a team, a genuine interest in supporting families in your community and a willingness to learn/understand the pressures facing parents today

You will have the opportunity to use your knowledge and expertise to influence the strategic management of Home-Start Herefordshire and allow the charity to continue to make a real difference to the lives of families and children in the local area. You will have the opportunity to develop or enhance your strategic leadership skills by supporting the development and implementation of the overall Home-Start Herefordshire strategy, working alongside committed and professional fellow trustees and staff.

Approx 6-10 hours per month at varying times This includes: -Attending trustee meetings every other month -Ad hoc meetings for special projects -Regular Safeguarding file reviews
