What you will be doing

Volunteer at one of our Children's Centres in Abbey Wood & Thamesmead as a Receptionist and be part of the team working frontline on reception and helping with administrative tasks. It is a priority that we have the right team on receptions, greeting visitors with a smile, and helpful, 'can-do' attitude. It is also important that our staff are enthusiastic, have patience, good listening skills and be customer focused as many of our families are vulnerable and come to us for support.

How Long Do I Have To Volunteer For?

You need to commit to a regular volunteering opportunity of around an hour a week. The table below shows the commitment required for each level of the DofE.

Bronze

Minimum time: 3 or 6 months

You must do one of your volunteering, Physical or Skills sections for 6 months, the others for 3.

Silver

Minimum time: 6 or 12 months

If you heven't achieved your Bronze Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 12 months.

Gold

Minimum time: 12 or 18 months

If you heven't achieved your Silver Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 18 months.
