Tavy Fridge is a brand new Community Project hosted by Tavistock Library, and funded by Livewest. The main aim of a community fridge is to reduce food insecurity, while also mitigating food waste We need volunteers to monitor the fridge and shelving areas, This should only take 15 mins a day once a week/fortnight, either am or pm, Volunteers will need to ensure the fridge and area is clean and tidy, and remove any unsuitable out of date or damaged foods. This is a significant role to ensure this exciting project succeeds. Training and support will be provided.

Basic IT Skills - Internet & Email,Cleaning & Tidying
No skills needed as such, other than reliability and a positive attitude. Awareness of food hygiene procedures would be helpful, although training and support will be provided. Access to a mobile phone would also be useful as we intend to communicate mainly via Whatsapp.
Our volunteers will be part of an exciting new project, aiding in the important reduction of food waste in and around Tavistock. Our volunteer monitors will have access to free foods, all that we ask is that they take no more than they need,
