Gaddesden Place is a local charity based just outside Hemel that provides therapeutic riding and equine interactions for over 100 children and adults with special needs and disabilities. The benefits of riding are wide-ranging: strengthening muscle tone, improving balance & co-ordination and increasing confidence & social skills. We always focus on the RDA principle “It’s what you can do that counts”
2022 will be an important year in our development. As we emerge from Covid, we have exciting plans including the opening of our new classroom and home for our mechanical horse and the introduction of new activities which will help us to improve the experience for all our participants and provide more opportunities for both existing and new participants.
To assist us in this we are looking for a new Trustee. You don’t need to know anything about horses, but must have the time & desire to help a thriving local charity to grow further. All trustees are volunteers so you will need to have a hands on approach and collaborate with other volunteers to achieve our aims. Good communication and people skills are a necessity. All of the Trustees have particular roles and the vacancy is for a Trustee with responsibility for fundraising – coordinating events and applying for grants, that will help us to continue to help us subsidise all our rides and activities to ensure we can keep our lesson costs to a minimum.
As well as fundraising you will help the Trustees to manage the charity’s aims and strategy.
