After successfully passing through our vetting and selection process, we provide full training, mentor shadowing and a whole host of information to support you. You’ll work with your carefully matched mentee in the prison for 6 months, and up to 12 months in the community after their release. You’ll be on hand throughout this time, meeting them every week inside the prison and out. Your mentee will want to make a positive change and will be prepared to provide the hard work, courage and commitment needed. As a mentor, you’ll need to provide them with the support and means to make their change.

Applicants must: - Be over 21 - Be a British citizen (needed for prison security checks) - We encourage applications from those with lived experience of the criminal justice system, but you must be off licence for a minimum of 12 months - Have a good level of fitness to able to move around a prison quickly - including stairs - Have not committed an offense where you are barred from working with vulnerable adults or children - Live within a 30 mile radius from HMPYOI Isis

Mentoring sessions are held weekly or fortnightly and last 1 hour. The 6 months in custody, will require the mentoring to take place in HMPYOI Isis. Travel and time to access the prison needs to be factored and so for these 6 months, half a day per week is realistic.
