As a DV Support Volunteer your role will be:
Assist in setting up and preparing the space for support group meetings.
Welcome and sign in participants, ensuring a warm and supportive atmosphere.
Help facilitate group discussions, providing emotional support and active listening.
Ensure the confidentiality and privacy of all group members.
Maintain attendance records and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed.
Assist in compiling feedback from participants to help improve support group sessions.
Identify signs of distress or crisis among participants and notify the group facilitator
Attend initial and ongoing training sessions to stay informed about best practices in supporting domestic violence survivors.
Participate in regular supervision and debriefing sessions with the Group Facilitator

These skills are not only crucial for the role but are also highly transferable to other areas of life and work. Personal Growth and Fulfillment. Building Empathy and Compassion Working closely with survivors of domestic violence fosters empathy and compassion. Volunteers learn to understand and support individuals from diverse backgrounds. Creating a Supportive Community Volunteers play a crucial role in creating a supportive and safe environment for survivors. By offering a non-judgmental space, they help build a community where individuals feel understood, respected, and valued. Volunteering as a support worker in a domestic violence program is a meaningful way to contribute to the well-being of individuals and the broader community. Travel expenses will be paid to the value of £10 for each session

Any woman who is a survivor or willing to support women who have been through Domestic violence. The volunteers will need to have worked through their own issues of DV. I cannot take on a volunteer who has recently come out of an abusive relationship.
