The Families for Life Community Champion programme offers training and support for Camden residents to become a Community Champion. Successful applicants will be asked to volunteer a few hours of their time each week, meet with their peers to give basic healthy lifestyle tips, talk about local services and support parents/carers to access Families for Life healthy lifestyle programmes. In the future, there may be opportunities to support delivery of Families for Life programmes.
Families for Life Community Champions will be supported to advocate and enhance the Families for Life healthy lifestyle programmes provided in Camden and be given the opportunity to develop their own skills and experience. They will receive full training and support throughout their journey as a volunteer, and should they wish, they can be offered support to explore work, training and other volunteering opportunities.
To become a Families for Life Community Champion, you must be a Camden resident, complete a short application form, attend an informal interview, provide one reference and be available to attend the six, two hour mandatory training sessions starting on Tuesday 1st October. All volunteers will be required to get a DBS check (Fee paid by Local authority) and commit to volunteer a few hours a week for a minimum of six months.
