As a Trustee of Child and Family Connect, you will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting the strategic direction of the organisation. You will work with the Board to ensure the charity achieves its objectives in a sustainable and effective way while adhering to legal, regulatory, and financial guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Governance and Strategic Direction
• Collaborate with fellow trustees to develop, implement, and review the charity’s strategic goals and objectives.
• Ensure compliance with Child and Family Connect's governing documents, Charity Commission regulations, and other relevant legislation.
• Monitor risks and ensure that risk management strategies are robust.
2. Financial Oversight
• Oversee financial performance and ensure sound financial controls and sustainability.
• Review financial statements and budgets to ensure the charity’s financial resources are well-managed.
3. Leadership and Support
• Provide guidance and support to the Support Manager and Referrals Manager.
• Contribute to building a positive, inclusive organisational culture.
• Ensure adequate resources are in place to support the charity’s operations.
4. Ambassadorship and Advocacy
• Act as an ambassador for the charity and advocate for its mission and objectives.
• Engage with stakeholders, including supporters, funders, partners, and the public, to promote the charity’s work.
5. Board Participation
• Attend and actively participate in board meetings and any relevant sub-committees.
• Contribute to informed and balanced decision-making.

Skills and Experience
Essential:
• A commitment to Child and Family Connect's mission, values, and objectives.
• Understanding of or a willingness to learn about governance and the role of a trustee.
• Financial literacy and understanding of charity finance principles.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
Desirable:
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: family law, fundraising, public relations, digital/technology, or charity sector experience.
• An understanding of the challenges faced by Child and Family Connect’s target audience and/or experience within the charity’s field.

Attend meetings in North Manchester every 6-8 weeks

We have contact centres in Bury, Rochdale, Oldham, Bootle and Stockport, however Trustees aren't required to meet at the centres, we meet every 6-8 weeks for meetings in North Manchester
