Want to make a difference to others?
This role aims to support people to gain confidence in growing fresh food. It involves supporting a small number of people who attend weekly garden sessions. These will take place on a Tuesday, and are located in the outdoor space at a local residential home in Ampthill. The role might include:
- Welcoming new and regular growers;
- Supporting growers to do simple tasks each week, based on a plan developed with Beds RCC;
- Simple admin tasks including taking a register of participants;
- Ensuring the safety and security of yourself and participants during activities, by following agreed procedures on safe working;
- Keeping in regular contact with key staff at Beds RCC.

Are you someone who enjoys gardening, and is friendly and welcoming? Do you feel you have the following attributes? - Quite confident in amateur gardening or food growing; - Reliable, punctual, honest and well-organised; - Happy to work independently – as well as with guidance and support; - Able to communication well with others; - Observant and sensitive to the needs of others; - Able to recognise your own limitations.

We hope you will gain the following as a volunteer: - enjoyment and satisfaction in helping others; - training in a key volunteer role for a well-respected charity; - opportunity to develop your gardening, people and other skills; - opportunity to be more physically active yourself; - A chance to share in any food harvest.

The regular time commitment would be 2 hours on a Tuesday, plus a volunteer induction with Beds RCC.
