• Experience of working with young people. • An ability to engage and develop positive relationships with young people and families. • A caring, approachable, friendly and reliable attitude. • Good interpersonal and communication skills. • An ability to use their own initiative and problem solving skills where appropriate. • An ability to volunteer alongside a team of staff and volunteers. • Ability to share any worries, concerns or risks with a member of the management team.

• A full induction into your role and introduction to The Children’s Society • On-going support and guidance from the Senior Youth Worker and the wider team, including group supervision. Individual supervision can also be requested. • All necessary training for your role - you will also have access to a broad range of online learning modules and courses. • Recognition of your commitment and achievements • A reference once you have been involved with us for a period of time • Reimbursement of reasonable expenses as agreed with the Senior Youth Worker • The opportunity to gain further valuable knowledge, skills and experience in a professional environment. • A free and confidential telephone counselling service is available to all staff and volunteers

To be effective in this role, we ask that you can commit to a minimum 3 hours a week on a regular evening or day.
