To drive and act in accordance with the Highway Code and all legislation relating to driving a vehicle.
To comply with Keech Hospice’s Travel & Transport Policy (copy supplied with this role description).
To carry out their responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy of the Hospice, acting at all times in such a manner as to justify trust and confidence and safeguard the interests of the patients, carers and other road users.
To always ensure the safety and comfort of the patients during journeys.
To maintain all records and ensure all documentation is completed.
To deal securely with any notes or documentation of patient information.
To adhere to the moving and handling policy of Keech Hospice.
To abide by the security rules of Hospice vehicles.
To work with other members of the Living Well Centre in general tasks to ensure a quality, holistic service.
Ensure patient information is passed onto staff ensuring that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Maintain standards and professional boundaries.
Attend training and supervision sessions
Any other duties assigned from time to time by the Department Manager.
Ensure all fire, health and safety requirements are observed and be aware of individual responsibility for the safety of everyone.
Publicize the work of the Hospice in accordance with its aims and philosophies.
Transport blood samples, collection of notes and red cells for transfusion to and from L&D Hospital and handle bloods in accordance with training and instruction (All drivers who are happy to undertake this task will be trained for this)
you must have:

Good communication skills
A caring manner
Attend a minimum of 50% of the bi-monthly supervision and training sessions.
Attend any training as necessary to enhance the service provided and meet current requirements.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Treat others with dignity and respect at all times.
Report any concerns to Line Manager or Safeguarding Team on the same day (earliest opportunity)
Get a DBS clearance (enhanced) – If also willing to support children services, a DBS for both Adult and Children will be requested.
Two references
If using a privately owned car, all drivers must have comprehensive insurance for their car and hold a current valid driving licence. There is a need to inform the insurance company that the vehicle is being used to drive for Keech Hospice (a letter will be provided by the Hospice). There is a need to ensure that the Department Manager has up to date, valid information on car registration, driving licence, driving convictions, MOT, insurance cover and any health matters which affect the ability to drive. All vehicles must be roadworthy and comply with current legislation when used for Hospice purposes (also see the Transport and Travel Policy)
If driving Keech vehicles, there is a need to ensure that the Department Manager has up to date, valid information on driving licence, driving convictions and any health matters which affect the ability to drive (also see the Transport and Travel Policy).
