Our NHS Children’s Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) service provides specialist support to children with speech, language and communication needs across Bedfordshire and Luton.

This volunteer role will support the Early Communication Support Team and 0-19 team at Chattertots sessions. These are 4 week courses for parents and their children aged 18mths-3 years, which help to develop a child’s listening and talking skills.
They will also assist the SLT team at Stay & Play sessions and with other tasks on the weeks where Chattertots courses are not running in their chosen location.

Volunteers are required in Bedford Borough.

Language Skills

Friendly and approachable. Excellent communication skills. Able to communicate with a wide range of people - adults and children. Volunteers will need to undergo recruitment checks in line with NHS Employers recommendations - right to work and ID checks, DBS check, references and occupational health screening, as well as complete annual mandatory training.

Average commitment expected to be 2 hours per week – according to the times of the Chattertots and Stay & Play sessions. We ask for a minimum of six months commitment to volunteering after recruitment checks are completed.
