Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire, Home-based

Reports to: Board of Directors
Deadline for applications: November 17th 2023

Do you have a passion for helping people recover from the long-term psychological impact of developmental trauma? A track record of treating clients who experienced abuse and now self-identify with Complex PTSD? Perhaps you have explored your own challenges, and this has been the catalyst for your chosen career?

Recovery Code X Community Interest Company was founded in 2019 by women with direct experience of the psycho-social debilitating effects of complex trauma caused by childhood abuse and neglect, sexual exploitation, and domestic violence. They survived an era in which ignorance of Complex PTSD prevailed at all levels of society before the seminal work of Judith Herman M.D. and others determined the need for a new diagnosis. Their own experiences of hardship and suffering, of being misunderstood and misdiagnosed, exiled and abandoned, forged a desire to help others.

Our peer-led support groups have been gaining recognition as safe, validating spaces for women seeking help with managing the effects of complex trauma.

We are seeking candidates who would like to be part of a dynamic team, bringing a broad clinical skillset, to help us develop and deliver new therapeutic programs for both men and women.

We’re looking for a hands-on approach, someone who can devote a few hours a week to Recovery Code X – offer supervision, attend staff meetings, and review project and funding proposals. You may even find yourself facilitating a group if you would like that (a paid role).
We need your help to build our Centre for Complex PTSD providing assessment and treatment options with a holistic approach in collaboration with the NHS and other health and community organisations.

An awareness or experience of Compliance, Governance, Safeguarding and Project Development for Community Interest Companies for would be most helpful.
Our objects and powers are enshrined in our Articles of Association.

Previous director or governance experience is desirable but not essential. Most importantly, you will be able to demonstrate a commitment to Recovery Code X, strategic vision and an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities inherent in being a director of a Community Interest Company. You will also be able to work well as a member of a team.

Please read this guidance on the responsibilities of a CIC director on the government’s website:
