• To collect, drive and deliver patients to and from the Hospice under the instruction and guidance of the Hospice staff.
• To perform other driving duties, if requested, either by In-patient Unit or Day Hospice.
• To drive and act in accordance with the Highway Code and all legislation relating to driving a vehicle
• To comply with Keech Hospice Care’s Travel & Transport Policy (copy supplied with this role description)
• To always ensure the safety and comfort of the patients during journeys.
• To undertake a regular commitment of time that can be flexible for both volunteer and the Hospice.
• To attend training courses as required.
• To participate in on-going training sessions.
• To participate in support sessions.
• To complete documentation of information as required.
• To deal securely with any notes or documentation of patient information.
• To maintain accurate and clear records of mileage incurred.
• To adhere to the policy of strict confidentiality required by Keech Hospice Care.
• To adhere to the moving and handling policy of Keech Hospice Care.
• To abide by the security rules of Hospice vehicles.
• This role description gives an indication of the tasks to be performed within a specific discipline.

Driving (must have full driving licence)

• If using a privately owned car, all drivers must have comprehensive insurance for their car and hold a current valid driving licence. There is a need to inform the insurance company that the vehicle is being used to drive for Keech Hospice Care. There is a need to ensure that the Department Manager has up to date, valid information on car registration, driving licence, driving convictions, MOT, insurance cover and any health matters which affect the ability to drive. All vehicles must be roadworthy and comply with current legislation when used for Hospice purposes (also see the Transport and Travel Policy) • If driving Keech vehicles, there is a need to ensure that the Department Manager has up to date, valid information on driving licence, driving convictions and any health matters which affect the ability to drive (also see the Transport and Travel Policy).
