Tibbs Dementia Foundation is an award-winning Bedfordshire-based charity providing activity and support groups for people living with dementia (and their family carers) across Bedford Borough and Central Beds. Our mission is to help people to live well with dementia and ensure they have access to stimulating social activities.

We offer a weekly Cognitive Stimulation Therapy group in Leighton Buzzard and are looking for volunteers to help out there. You will be setting up and clearing away, making teas/coffees for our clients, and helping support our clients do the activities.

We are looking for friendly, compassionate, and sociable people who are keen to muck in with whatever is required and happy to chat with our service-users. No experience of dementia is necessary, although this would be helpful. The volunteer must be reliable and able to attend regular sessions. They must also be happy to undergo a DBS check and provide references.

Time commitment is minimal, around 2 hours per week.

If this sounds like you, please email louise.evans@tibbsdementia.co.uk or call 07483 951733

We are a very friendly and welcoming bunch and would love to hear from you!

Cleaning & Tidying

We are looking for someone who is patient, friendly, compassionate and sociable, 'people persons' who are comfortable chatting to and supporting our service-users and making them feel welcome at our groups,. Someone who is happy to make teas/coffees, welcome them at the front door and take a register, and able to help our clients engage in activities. No prior experience of dementia is necessary, although this would be a huge bonus. What is more important is enthusiasm for working with older people, reliability to attend regularly and a sociable disposition.

There is lots of chat at our groups, so this role will provide social interaction for anyone who is feeling socially isolated. You will also receive experience of working with people with a cognitive impairment, which is ideal for those who are looking to move into a health or social care career. This could be an ideal role for a nursing or social work student who would like to gain practical experience of working with people who have a cognitive impairment.

2 hours per week.
