What you will be doing

As a mentor you will work with young people on a 1:1 basis once a week offering up to 12 sessions. As a youth mentor you will help a young person to improve their well-being. You will work with a young person to encourage them to reach an agreed set of goals such as improving school attendance, improving relationships at home or with peers. You will provide a listening and supportive ear and offer advice and guidance where needed. Simply by being there for a young person on a weekly basis is the difference they need.

Skills Description

It is important that as a mentor you are a person with good communication skills, you are able to actively listen and respond to a young person, you are approachable and committed. You also need to be able to travel around Bedford Borough in order to meet the young person on a weekly / fortnightly basis.
