What you will be doing

Roller Skate Lessons:
Alongside the main coach you will assist the young people to learn the basic techniques needed to roller-skate safely; advanced skaters may want to learn more technical skills and you will simply monitor that they are skating safely.

Roller Disco’s:
We prepare roller-skates into sizes, registration of participants, ensuring protective gear is correctly applied if necessary and ensure roller-skates are worn correctly. In addition, you will be involved in the general set up and pack away of all equipment. During the sessions there will be various games & activities such as: roller-football, roller-hockey, musical statues, mouse tail, relay, Slalom etc. and you will be expected to help facilitate these activities.

How Long Do I Have To Volunteer For?

You need to commit to a regular volunteering opportunity of around an hour a week. The table below shows the commitment required for each level of the DofE.

Bronze

Minimum time: 3 or 6 months

You must do one of your volunteering, Physical or Skills sections for 6 months, the others for 3.

Silver

Minimum time: 6 or 12 months

If you heven't achieved your Bronze Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 12 months.

Gold

Minimum time: 12 or 18 months

If you heven't achieved your Silver Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 18 months.
