The Disability Resource Centre is a user-led charity. We provide a range of free services empowering people of all ages who are affected by a disability or health conditions to fulfil their potential and aspirations. We help disabled people, carers and families across Bedfordshire and Luton.

Our services include information and advice, welfare benefits advice, specific support for carers, direct payments services, equipment for daily living, support groups, and training.

We currently have opportunities for Volunteer Advisors in our busy contact centre supporting with incoming and outgoing enquiries via our telephone lines, emails, online webchat and visitors to our centre. This role will provide the first line of contact to the charity where volunteers will be trained to be a listening ear and identify to needs of the clients. You will provide information to support with the client’s needs or connect them to wider support from the charity or wider organisations.

Responsibilities include:
• Delivering exceptional customer service
• To triage clients and establish their next steps
• To research solutions for service users
• To provide a positive first contact experience

Sample Activities:
• Talking to clients on the via telephone, email and face to face
• Assessing client’s advice needs
• Recording information about clients and their needs on the database
• Following up with clients to ensure they found the help they needed
• Finding the best organisation to help the client if their issue falls outside of the scope of the DRC

Advice, Information & Support

Admin, Basic IT skills - internet & email, Good IT Skills

Do something you enjoy If there is something you enjoy doing, why not share it? Do you enjoy talking to people, researching online, designing marketing material, fixing things or helping others? Build your confidence Meeting new people, trying something new and entering new situations can build your confidence and self-esteem. Meeting others in similar situations and talking to people can have positive benefits.
