The IV (independent volunteer) service run by Action for Children provides a child in care access to an adult with whom they can form a long-lasting friendship with. It provides an opportunity for them to experience new things as well as develop essential life skills such as communication and confidence. We have online recruitment and training sessions and we are hoping to recruit volunteers in the Bedfordshire area as we have some young people in need of an IV based here.

Befriending, Buddying & Mentoring

All skills are valuable! We provide all the necessary training but we require our volunteers to have great communication skills and be able to talk and listen to children and young people. The role is for a long term friend for a looked after child - we require a min 2 year commitment.
