Purpose of Role:
To support and deliver outreach and community engagement activities on behalf of Brook Rural Museum. To promote the museum at outreach and community events, e.g. heritage fairs, markets, etc.

Role Profile:
This volunteer role is supported by the museum’s National Lottery Heritage Fund project: ’Reaching out into our Communities’. The primary aim of this project is to extend the museum's reach and impact across Ashford, connecting the local community with the Museum’s collection, wider stories about rural life and local people.

Timescale:
This volunteer opportunity will initially be available from April – September 2025, with the option to extend.

Key tasks
• To support and deliver outreach and community engagement activities on behalf of Brook Rural Museum.
• To promote the museum at outreach and community events.

DBS check may be required.

• Good communication skills. • Friendly and approachable character. • A keen interest in local history and/or community engagement. • An interest in the heritage and/or charity sector. • Be comfortable volunteering by yourself and/or within a group. • Driving licence + access to a vehicle

• The opportunity to develop new and existing skills and gain experience volunteering as part of a NLHF project. • A chance to meet new people and share your passion and skills with others. • An opportunity to contribute to an exciting new project. • The satisfaction of knowing you are making an important contribution to the work of the museum and the local community. • Out-of-pocket expenses towards the cost of travel between your home and the volunteering sites will be offered. • Full training on all aspects of the role. • Regular updates on the project. • Support from the Community Engagement & Project Manager
